Winter Session 1 – 5 Classes

Holiday Closure Notice: Please note that the academy will be closed for the holiday break from December 21, 2026, to January 3, 2027. Classes will resume on January 4, 2027.

Class 1
November 24: Forest Fox Silhouette - This class will focus on layering, understanding shape, and learning color value. What better way to end the November month than with a peaceful fox exploring the woods.
Class 2
December 1: Winter night sky - With the start of the holiday month we want to appreciate the beauty the winter has to offer. In this class we will learn about landscape painting, and how to use shadow and light to create depth.
Class 3
December 8: Pretty Poinsettias - The holidays are around the corner and what a better way to appreciate the season’s beautiful flora than a bouquet of flowers. This class will focus on color and shading to create beautiful flower arrangements.
Class 4
December 15: Holiday Lamp Post - In this class we will learn about how to make the subject of a painting pop and precision painting. A lovely decorated lamp post to brighten the season’s greetings.
Class 5
December 22: Amazing Ornaments - The holidays are upon us and beautiful decorations captivate the eye! This class will focus on color, shading, and detail painting to have the elements stand out.
Materials included: brushes, paint, canvas
You will learn techniques to work on your own shapes and colors!
We encourage students to let go of perfection, use their imagination, and try new things without fear!
Here's what you'll learn:
- Making observations.
- Mixed media techniques (paint, markers, Sharpie, colored pencils, and/or oil pastels).
- Salt resist technique.
- Creating templates.
-Drawing and painting silhouettes.
-Drawing and painting nature, people, faces, and animals.
-Using simple shapes to start a more complicated drawing.
-Drawing step by step.
-Wet-on-wet painting, as opposed to wet-on-dry.
-Drawing and/or painting shadows.
-Paint reflections.
